President Droupadi Murmu will land in Auckland.
Today marks the start of President Droupadi Murmu’s three-day state visit to Auckland, New Zealand. Dame Cindy Kiro, the governor general of New Zealand, invited her to visit the country. President Murmu will see Prime Minister Christopher Luxon and have a bilateral meeting with Governor General Kiro while in town. Along with speaking at an education conference, President Droupadi Murmu will engage with the Indian community and Indian friends. The visit will boost bilateral ties between New Zealand and India even more. President Murmu’s two-day State visit to Fiji will end when she lands in New Zealand. She was the first Indian president to go to the country of islands in the Pacific. In addition to having one-on-one talks with Fijian leaders, President Murmu engaged with the Indian community abroad and paid a visit to the Sri Siva Subramaniya temple in Nadi.
Hailed as a historic visit that will advance India-Fiji relations, President Droupadi Murmu spent two days in Fiji. In her speech to the Fijian Parliament during the visit, the President stated that cooperation between the two nations is necessary to effectively represent the interests of the Global South. She praised the Indian diaspora’s contributions to the Pacific region during a gathering for the community. The project site allocation paperwork for the 100-bed Super Specialty Cardiology hospital being constructed in Suva with grant funding from India was turned over, which is one of the visit’s main takeaways. This visit coincides with the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between India and Fiji, who aim to further their partnership in a variety of areas, including education and digital infrastructure.
Droupadi Murmu
Droupadi Murmu Born on June 20, 1958 was also known as Durgi Biranchi Tudu, is an Indian politician who has been the country’s 15th and current president since 2022. As a Bharatiya Janata Party candidate, she was victorious in the 2022 presidential contest. She is not just the second woman to occupy the position after Pratibha Patil, but also the first member of the Santal tribal community. In addition, at 64 years old, she is the youngest individual to hold the position and the first Indian president born in an independent nation
She had previously held the positions of minister of state (independent charge) in the government of Odisha from 2000 to 2004, as well as the eighth and longest-serving governor of Jharkhand from 2015 to 2021. She was also a member of the Odisha Legislative Assembly from the Rairangpur Assembly constituency from 2000 to 2009. She worked as a clerk in the State Irrigation and Power Department from 1979 to 1983 and as a teacher in Rairangpur from 1994 to 1997 before going into politics.
Droupadi Murmu‘s Personal Life
On June 20, 1958, Droupadi Murmu was born into a Santali family in Uparbeda village, located in the Baidaposi area of Rarangpur, Odisha. Biranchi Narayan Tudu, her father, was a farmer.[8]Her grandpa and father served as the Sarpanch, or traditional head, of the Gram Panchayat, the village council.Her paternal grandmother, Durgi Tudu, was the name her family gave her; Batti, her previous moniker, was changed to Puti. Her teacher at school gave her the new name Droupadi, and she had previously had her name altered to Durpadi and Dorpdi.
Murmu attended the Upar Beda local primary school to study elementary education. She relocated to Bhubaneswar at age five in order to further her education. She completed Girl’s High School Unit-2 for her secondary education, and Rama Devi Women’s College awarded her a B.A.
She had two boys and a daughter with financier Shyam Charan Murmu (1 April 1958 – 1 August 2014) whom she married in 1980. In the seven years between 2009 and 2015, her husband, two kids (Lexman died in suspicious circumstances, and Sipun died in a car accident), mother, and brother all passed away. She belongs to the Brahma Kumaris spiritual group.
