Pune is suffering greatly from the heavy rainfall.
At least four fatal rain-related incidents have occurred in Pune as a result of the heavy rainfall. Following the inundation of some low-lying dwellings and residential societies in the city, the Army dispatched men to expedite the evacuation process.

According to officials, some parts of Mumbai received in excess of 100 mm of rainfall from 4 am to 1 pm on Thursday. The highest amount of heavy rainfall recorded during this period was at Malpa Dongri area in Andheri where it rained 157 mm, followed by Paspoli in Powai with 155 mm and Dindoshi with154 mm respectively.

On the other hand, several troops of the Indian army are being used to rescue the affected persons and move them to safer zones in Pune. Approximately, 400 people have been evacuated up to this time. A contingent of two columns of the Army were taken to the Sinhagad Road area, which has been heavily flooded, the officials added.
In addition, teams of the NDRF, fire brigade apart from the district and city disaster management cells were engaged in carrying out the operations of relief.
Maharashtra’s chief minister, Eknath Shinde declared that if necessary, the affected population will be airlifted to Pune because new precipitation flood residing places and houses located in the lowlands.
Instead, the Chief Minister assured the people by stating, “If the need arises, we have told them to airlift people There is no need to worry”.
AIRLINES ISSUE ADVISORY
Several airlines have also released a statement to their passengers warning them that some of their flights to Mumbai have been delayed and rerouted as a result of rainstorms.

Likewise, IndiGo came up with a statement on X, informing the passengers to check their flight status before going to the airport.
IndiGo said in a statement on X: “Heavy and continuous rains over #Mumbai are leading to occasional disruptions of flight schedules while we endeavour to provide you with live updates, we would like to remind you to check your flight status before coming to the airport. ”
Another low-cost carrier, SpiceJet, stated X, saying that all departures/arrivals from Mumbai airport may be affected due to bad weather.
As we experience bad weather (heavy rain) in Mumbai (BOM), departures/arrivals and their consequential flights may be impacted, passengers are advised to check their flight status, SpiceJet posted on X.
State Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar took stock of the situation and also spoke to Divisional Commissioners and other officials of Mumbai, Pune and Thane over the phone and gave instructions to maintain alertness and for rescue and relief work.
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation in a post on X also appealed to the people of Mumbai requesting them to avoid stepping out of Mumbai in view of the ‘red alert’ issued till Friday morning. Additionally, a holiday has been declared in all schools and colleges of the city as the weather department has issued a red alert in Mumbai and neighbouring Thane, Raigad and Palghar districts.
